Get them up out of their seats! This fun scavenger hunt supports the following 3rd/4th grade Texas math standards:
3.4C (Determine the value of a collection of coins and bills.)
4.2E (Represent decimals, including tenths and hundredths, using concrete and visual models and money.)
Includes 10 cards that are to be copied and posted around the classroom. Students begin with any card, solve for the amount of money, then "hunt" for the card that has the correct answer (above the dashed line). Then, they work solve for the amount of money on that card, and begin "hunting" again.
This is a quick activity designed to review coins and bills. It is appropriate for 3rd grade (just tell 3rd graders to disregard the written form since it uses the term "hundredths") and 4th grade.
Can also be used as an "early bird" activity for students who are finished with their work, and need something to do.
