PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

To start to discuss poor working conditions and environmental concerns of the Industrial Revolution, students will read an excerpt from Charles Dickens' novel, "Hard Times." The excerpt describes the fictitious Coketown. Students will demonstrate understanding of the article by drawing what the town would have looked like based on the details of how the dirty town looked and then will contemplate the government's role in industry and how these typical poor conditions could have been improved.
