To create this assessment, I went through all of NYS old 8th grade exams, and pulled every question related to 8.7, 8.8, and 8.9 Cold War. Question types range from DBQ, multiple choice, political cartoons, central idea, graphs and charts, short answer, maps, and general economics.
Multiple choice questions have been grouped together by theme. Students will notice that the questions can be similar, and this then turns into an excellent time to discuss test strategies while reviewing the test once they are graded and returned.
While teaching I divided the Cold War into Domestic & Foreign Policy 1945- 1963, and then again 1963- 1990. The tests reflect this division.
Included is one word matching quiz, one DBQ quiz, and two unit tests with multiple choice and DBQ questions for each section of the Cold War.
To help students review a crossword puzzle and study guide have been included. To offer additional resources a vocab Quizlet link, and a Kahoot review game with 10 questions from the test have also been included with the answer key!
Some vocab includes: Cold War, Super Power, NATO, Warsaw Pact, Containment, Truman Doctrine, Arms Race, Space Race, Civil Rights, Suburbs, Vietnam & Korean War, Brown vs. Board of Education…
