This is the most engaging lesson to teach important events throughout the Cold War. Students research, analyze, collaborate, compare/contrast, persuade, and debate important events in the Cold War through a NCAA March Madness Bracket.
Each step (Round One, Round Two, Sweet Sixteen, Elite Eight, Final Four) has an awesome activity to help students understand the content, consequences, legacy, and significance of each topic.
Brackets are also divided by Presidential Eras (Truman & Eisenhower - Kennedy & LBJ - Nixon, Ford & Carter, - Reagan & Bush Sr). You can use the bracket for each Presidential Era or the Cold War collectively.
Terms include: McCarthyism, Sputnik, Berlin Airlift, Cuban Missile Crisis, Iran Hostage Crisis, My Lai Massacre, Iran Contra Affair, Fall of Berlin Wall and Many More (64 Terms All Together)
Great way to teach the Cold War in a very short period or extend it throughout several units.
