1949: Sometimes, a wounded animal just wants to kill. Nearly broken by Hitler’s Nazis, Russia was wounded and Stalin was cagey and murderous. After sixteen years of Depression or World War, soldiers and their sweethearts might want peace—but others wanted war.
As spies killed each other and the Cold War turned hot in Korea, it appeared that the world might annihilate itself in a Third World War. Two men stood on the brink against each other.
Ironically, they were both Americans.

THE STUDY GUIDE, THE STUDY GUIDE KEY, THE PPTS, and the EXAM for each topic all MIRROR EACH OTHER.
a) I give my students a study guide with bullet points; that is this document.
b) Later, I give them a completed version; which has an almost identical title: "Cold War. Specter of the Apocalypse. Study Guide KEY."
c) I used the KEY to make the ppts (which also have the same title). The ppts cover the exact same topics as the key in the exact same order. Some students prefer just reading the KEY; others prefer reading the ppts.
d) Finally, each EXAM covers "a," "b," & "c." To play fair with students, the only things I include on the exams are items discussed in "a," "b," & "c."
