Product Description
This is a primary document activity with 6 rotating stations designed to explore life during the early Cold War (50s and 60s). The stations are: Red Scare, Cold War fears, Space Race, Arms Race, Cold War Charts, and Artifact grab bag. The types of activity include video clips and readings on a specific website I created just for this activity, political cartoons, charts and maps, diary entries, and photographs. There is a activity sheet with guided questions for each station. This will take three days, 20 mts. per station. The artifact station is the most fun, but you would need to find some of the items. Included is a list of all the items and what they represent, but you would need to locate them. For example, rubber duck represents duck and cover drills. A toy octopus represents the fear of Communist expansion around the globe, a small Tupperware container represents containment etc.
