This is the first unit in a series of lessons covering the Cold War. It is a guided reading activity that includes a lesson describing what communism is and who Karl Marx was. The second lesson includes the Russian Revolution, Vladimir Lenin, and Joseph Stalin's rise to power. The lessons are followed up with multiple choice reading comprehension questions, a matching section concerning the content, and a series of fill in the blank answers. It also includes three free response writing questions that challenge the students to consider the content in ways that foster critical thinking skills. The lessons were developed with Core Curriculum Standards in mind.
Would be an excellent source for any world history, U.S. history, or reading class.
