This is a very short piece with many extension possibilities that was inspired by the cold winds that blow from Siberia to northern Japan in the winter. It is presented in the Phryigian mode and goes well with a study of recorders, modes, improvisation, and lyric writing. The B section is left open for improvisation in either Mi-Pentatonic on E or E Phrygian. The included lesson plan highlights activities that were completed in classrooms for grades 2 through 4. I hope that your children enjoy this song as much as mine did!
