This is an outline that can be used for common planning time between colleagues and grade teams. Included are areas of focus as well as roles for each teacher during each meeting. It is suggested that team members rotate roles on a weekly basis. Descriptions of roles are included as well as anticipated actions during each meeting aligned to the structured outline.
Teachers will be divided in to sub-groups based on grade level taught and area of expertise. Ideally, a special area teacher would attend as well to offer a different perspective on students when not in the traditional classroom. A sample collaborative team might be:
5th/6th Grade Literacy/S.S. Teacher
5th/6th Grade Math/ Science Teacher
5th/6th Grade Special Education Teacher
Art Teacher (This role can rotate)
(Occasionally the Principal, Dean of Students, or Counselor would also attend the meeting dependent on area being discussed that week)
