These group role task cards provide an easy way to ensure that all members of the group are accountable for their specific task for any cooperative learning activity. Their are seven different role task cards. Depending on the nature of the classroom activity, you can choose to not use all of the roles or students may have more than one role during that activity.
The seven roles & their key responsibilities are:
~Editor - proofs work and checks for the correct format.
~Encourager - checks for participation and invites reluctant members to participate.
~Facilitator - spokesperson, manages group, and asks teacher for help, when needed.
~Go-For - collects any needed materials and keeps track of all materials/equipment.
~Reader - reads all necessary materials aloud to the group.
~Recorder - records all answers and maintains all records for the group.
~Time Keeper - reminds all group members how much time has elapsed and keeps the group on a steady pace.
To create your own group role task cards, print out the cards on card stock. Cut along each card and glue the front and back of each role together (creating double-sided cards).
Create as many sets as you will need to match the number of groups you will have.An alternative option is to print the group role cards on regular paper, then glue to either side of an index card.
