This is a copperative learning lesson where the students work in groups of two to translate sentences in the past, then work together to figure out the 'rule' to these irregular verbs. Then in a larger group (based upon the color of thir paper), they will discuss the rule and create a poster to present to the class. Once all four have been presented, the whole class will have a rule that they can use to conjugate these 12 irregular verbs, which I call the 'Dirty Dozen.'
This is to be used after students have mastered the regular AR/ER/IR verbs in the preterite. This is a two period lesson, where the students start to discuss the rule by the end of the 40 minute period.
This bundle includes the Inductive sheets, protocol sheets for both partners and the bigger group, a group rubric, notes sheet to take note during the presentation and a Ticket out the Door to assess the lesson.
