Set up your lab with index cards labeled 1A, 2A, etc.
I used mineral kits that already had the minerals labeled, but this can easily be recreated without the rocks labeled. Just label the index card and place the appropriate mineral on it.
I found if students rotate every minute to minute and a half, they are able to get through them fairly easily.
I provided the lists so students could remember which minerals they were working with and really focused on ways they could remember them based on certain characteristics.
