L.2.1a This PowerPoint covers 36 collective nouns: fish/school, wolves/pack, dogs/pack, bananas/bunch, cut flowers/bouquet, puppies/litter, cows/herd, person/people, people/crowd, workers/staff, ships/fleet, ants/colony, elephants/herd, whales/pod, birds/flock, penguins/colony, baseball players/team, cookies/batch, musicians/band or orchestra, playing cards/deck, stories/anthology, stairs/flight, mountains/range, peas/pod, information/wealth, Boy Scouts/troop, listeners/audience, sheep/fleet, singers/choir, two things/pair, students/class, Mom,Dad, & kids/family, firewood/bundle, actors in a play/cast, flying bats/cloud.
The first 36 slides are just words: the definition and then the collective noun (which flies in with a click of the mouse).
The next 36 slides are multiple choice--a picture and 3 word choices. The correct answer shows up with a click of the mouse. This could be a good activity using a smart/interactive board.
The last 36 slides are just a picture and students have to say the collective noun. To check for correctness, just click the mouse and the correct answer will show up. This also could be a smart/interactive board activity.
There is a one-page 14 sentence assessment that I could not include here. It does not cover all the listed collective nouns. It is a PDF called Collective Nouns Assessment. It is a FREE download.
