Collective Nouns - posters and worksheets
: It will fit right into your farm unit
and your community helpers
unit because it is focused on the collective nouns for groups of animals and groups of persons. Download the preview!
This set has twelve pairs of collective noun posters for farm animals, some of them are: a swarm of bees, a flock of birds, an army of ants, a herd of cattle, a gaggle of geese, etc. Likewise, there are twelve pairs of collective noun posters for groups of persons, such as: a staff of teachers, a class of students, a troupe and dancers, a choir of singers, a band of musicians, a posse of policemen, a bevy of ladies, an army of soldiers, a crew of sailors, etc.
There is a worksheet at the end of each set of posters
for your students to write the collective nouns for each group of animals/persons shown. Clues are given by little dashes lines which represent the number of letters needed for each answer. I included as many pictures (clip art) as I could because I like to have students make connections between the new vocabulary and the everyday things that they are already familiar with.
Fulfills the CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.2.1a
