This is a week long unit of the collision of "worlds" or cultures. It focuses on the juxtaposition of differing cultures.
This unit uses the essays "Dyaspora" and an excerpt from the first part of Pico Iyers "Where Worlds Collide".
Included in this unit is a lesson plan for the unit, handouts that correspond with each reading. Each handout includes an activity as well as several critical thinking questions that force students to analyze the texts. Finally, it includes an extension that asks the students to write their own juxtaposition of colliding cultures.
