Colonial America- The New England Colonies Webquest and Video Analysis with Key- this is a 12 page document that contains a webquest and a completed teacher’s key for easy marking. It contains 31 questions based on an informative video podcast and an online U.S. history study guide.
Students will first be introduced to the colonies of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Hampshire by viewing a detailed video podcast which will go over the founders of each colony, the religious principles of each colony, and the important historical figures from each colony. The Puritans, Pilgrims, John Winthrop, Thomas Hooker, and Roger Williams are all discussed and compared to each other in great detail. Following the video, students will proceed to an online U.S. History study guide which will provide several articles regarding:
- The Puritan way of life (beliefs, the dominance of the church, the power of men, and the harsh punishments for those who disobey).
- Anne Hutchinson and her beliefs and banishment from Massachusetts.
- The government of Connecticut and how it influenced future colonial and state legislatures and state.
This webquest can be easily used as an introduction to the topic, a study guide, or a quick and easy sub plan.
