European nations came to the Americas to increase their wealth and broaden their influence over world affairs. The Spanish were among the first Europeans but by 1650, England had established a dominant presence on the Atlantic coast. The first colony was founded in VA, in 1607 followed by the Pilgrims in 1620 in MA. By the early 1700s enslaved Africans made up a growing percentage of the colonial population. By 1770, more than 2 million people lived and worked in Great Britain's 13 colonies.
This presentation contains 29 vocabulary words for the student to master. The assignment is to review each of the vocabulary words, to understand what they mean and how they became part of our vocabulary today. Good luck and have fun with the presentation!
