PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Students will create a How To Book for someone living in the colonial era. For example "How to Be A Plantation Owner" or "How to Be A Puritan". Directions and suggested chapters are included. A simple rubric is provided for grading and some items are editable.

You can use this activity alone or in conjunction with the Colonial Conference. Students who were assigned to the same "How To" role will work together to brainstorm how they would feel about an issue of the era. For example, Should the colonies have an official religion? Then, students will have a large circle debate. A graphic organizer is included for the debate.
