Investigation Style Lesson that builds inquiry! This is part of a complete unit: Causes of the Revolution Unit
Learning about colonial government is an important precursor to learning about the causes of the American Revolution. This lesson will help students understand the structures of power that led to tension between the colonies and Great Britain leading up to the Revolution. While this lesson isn't directly about taxation, students get to role play a scenario related to it which is a great way to help them to understand the possible tension taxes would create.
This lesson includes:
-Powerpoint on structure of colonial government (simple, very visual and easy to grasp quickly)
-Guided Notes with independent practice question included (simple 1 page)
-Activity to play out the role of one of people involved in government: King, Royal Governor, Colonial Assembly Leader or Regular Colonist to help students understand the tension that existed in this system
