This digital resource is a web-based research activity that students can use in Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. Students will research various colonial trades and occupations and show what they've learned by adding information and pictures to the slides.
Use this digital activity as an engaging independent project or a collaborative class activity during a Colonial America unit. Since students will use research, reading, and writing skills, you can easily incorporate this activity into your Language Arts block! No prep for you; no lost papers for them!
The slide contents include:
- an editable Table of Contents with hyperlinked slides
- 12 slides with various colonial trades/occupations (basketmaker, blacksmith, brickmaker, cabinetmaker, cooper, farmer, printer, shoemaker, silversmith, tailor, town crier, and wigmaker)
- a blank Venn diagram that students can use to compare two trades or compare one with a similar job today
- an extra slide in case you want students to research a trade that’s not included
You and your students can decide how you want to use these slides! Students can type paragraphs, bullets, speech bubbles, first-person narratives, and more! They can use the built-in Google research tool or use materials supplied by you. A printable note-taking page is included that you can copy for student use.
**You’ll need an internet connection, a laptop or tablet, and a Google or Microsoft OneDrive account. Note: if you’re using a tablet, you may need to open Google Slides in the app, rather than the browser.**
When you purchase this product, you will be given access to a link that will allow you to open the file in Google Slides. You’ll then share that file with your students. Fourteen usable slides are included, which can also be printed for students who prefer to complete the pages by hand.
This resource includes a step-by-step tutorial explaining how to share the resource with your students (both for Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive).
