To become familiar with the structure and democratic features of colonial government.
1 class period
Students learn about colonial government by using information on two charts that diagram how colonial governors and colonial legislatures were chosen.
This lesson also contains sections on the Court System and Democracy in the Thirteen Colonies.
While this lesson can be completed by individuals, it can also be a lot of fun if the class is divided into two teams that try to correctly answer the most questions on the lesson pages.
Easy-to-follow Teacher Instructions and answer key included, along with a 20-question follow up quiz to measure student progress.
The quiz can also be given as a homework assignment.
