Description: As students research the New England, Middle, and Southern colonial regions, they can record what they learn about the geography, economy, religion, government, and other factors of each region on this matrix. Guiding questions are provided for each category.

Sample guiding questions for the Geography category: What were the physical features (land & water)? What was the climate like? What kinds of natural resources did they have? What types of crops did they grow?

Student Learning Goal: I can compare and contrast the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies.

CA State Standard: 5.4.1 Understand the influence of location and physical setting on the founding of the original 13 colonies, and identify on a map the locations of the colonies and of the American Indian nations already inhabiting these areas.
