This product contains a 2-page intermediate-level reading about the causes of colonial unrest. Students will read an overview of the British policies towards the American colonies and the colonists' reactions to those policies in the time period leading up to the American Revolution. The accompanying graphic organizer allows students to see the cause and effect relationship between the British policies and the eventual declaration of independence from Great Britain. Additionally, students are challenged to make inferences and synthesize information from the reading to draw conclusions about the colonists' reactions. The activity concludes with a class discussion question that serves as a bridge to learning about the Declaration of Independence.
