PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

These 12 American Revolutionary War activities (many with ▚ QR codes ▞), had my students totally engaged in learning about colonial times & the revolution! The task cards, study guides, word walls, & bonus activities are great practice for comparing the New England, Middle, & Southern colonies, learning colonial jobs, getting to know the key people of the Revolution, & mastering important historical vocabulary and events.

See the links below for detailed previews!

This bundle of American Revolution task cards, study guides, & word walls include QR codes which link to photos of vocabulary to support visual learners and ELLs while integrating technology! The activities make engaging & meaningful Social Studies centers -- and are a major teacher timesaver for BYOD and 1:1 classrooms...AND classrooms with just a couple old Smartphones (like mine)! :)

How do the task cards work?
Students read the clues, infer about the described vocab word, and record their answer. When finished, they grab a Smart device and scan the QR codes to check their answers. (They LOVE this part!) A photo of the vocabulary term appears labeled with the correct answer.
Tip: I like to print them on colored paper and laminate to use over and over, and then I tape the cards around the classroom, school, or playground (it’s fun to add challenge and build excitement by hiding a couple cards under tables and behind doors).

How do I fit this into my already full Social Studies schedule?
My favorite strategy is to use the task cards as independent Reading Centers during my ELA block. Students are required to read carefully and look for clues to determine each answer, so while they are reviewing Social Studies content, they are also practicing making inferences!

***Please NOTE:*** Many of the activities in this resource link to photos in DROPBOX to support visual learners and ELLs. Please download my FREE Test Activity to ensure the photos open on your school device (and on school WiFi) before purchasing. I value your time!
