Colonization: Voyageurs and the Fur Trade Webquest uses a website that allow students to get a better understanding of the Voyageurs and the fur trade. The focus of this webquest is the fur trade around the Great Lakes that to development of Canada and the United States.
The webquest has three parts that focus on the following parts of the fur trade:
1. Daily life of Voyageurs
2. Trade items and canoe technology
3. The fur trade and global trade connections (Triangle Trade)
The following three parts of the website are used:
Part 1: Daily life of Voyageurs
Part 2: Voyageur’s Canoe and trade items
Part 3: Fur Trade and global trade connections (Triangle Trade)
The webquest is very easy to follow for students in grades 6-12 and contains 50 questions. An answer sheet is included for the teacher. QR codes are included along with the traditional website links. The webquest takes most students at least 40 to 60 minutes to complete depending on their age. Feel free to modify this activity if needed to fit the needs of your students.
