In this engaging simulation, students will found a colony, write a Declaration of Independence and create a Constitution on the Moon! The simulation includes detailed instructions, small group work, a class debate, and discussion questions.
This American History-inspired simulation will give students a new and exciting perspective on the struggles the early American colonists faced in their fight for independence.
The simulation begins with students working in small groups to colonize the Moon. Later, they'll feel frustration as the King begins placing taxes on the Moon colonies and will write a Declaration of Independence filled with evidence of the King's wrongdoing.
In a class debate, groups must reach compromises to form a new government...just like at the Constitutional Convention!
They'll end with writing their own Moon Constitution and participating in a discussion about their experiences.
You can complete this simulation in a few days or spread it out in stages over the course of your lessons on early American history.
