Challenge your students to sharpen their rounding skills with this beautiful mosaic puzzle. With no obvious picture to reveal, students will do more math computation and practice.
I’ve included a color answer key for faster visual checking and one with the color words to save ink. Students can even check their own work!
Use the coloring tool of your choice. I recommend that students use crayons or coloring pencils instead of markers. Markers tend to bleed and are harder to correct mistakes. Students will only need a basic set. A pack of 8 will do great.
Assign this fun puzzle for homework, a math center, or a collaborative activity. These make a great display and are a good piece to include in a math portfolio.
To extend and accelerate this activity:
Challenge students to explain their math thinking. Ask them why they are rounding up or down.
Challenge students to make new numbers to match the color code.
