Students often complain of not being able to keep up with longer pieces of literature where many characters are introduced, along with many types figurative language, settings, etc. With color coding, students can organize their notes and make looking back in the text much easier and more efficient.
This group of cards can be used individually or for group literature circles. Students correspond their highlights (or preferably post-it notes!) to organize their thoughts and understanding of a novel. There is one "key" card and 5 cards with directions. It's a simple yet effective resource and is especially helpful for students who need accommodations with reading.
