Animated Step-by-Steps are animated PowerPoints designed to address literacy, language, AAC and a host of academic goals. Each page includes a series of animations. Read the text up to the star … click … and see an animation of what you just read.
There are three versions of Color Match the Flowers. This is the Regular Version.
Students are encouraged to find a flower of a designated color. “Find the __red__ flower.”
In keeping with a ‘literacy first’ agenda, an non-colored version of the color label is added to the blank when the page opens.
The first click causes the text to magically color, e.g. red text turns red
The second click provides a hint for students that need a little assistance in achieving a match, i.e., the target flower jiggles briefly. This click can be added before or after the flower selection depending upon student need.
Whenever the student touches the correct target flower, he/she is reinforced with the target label, e.g. ‘red’. If the flower choice is incorrect, a negative response is heard, i.e., ‘huhugh’ for no (for all non-red flowers).
After selecting the correct flower, the third click triggers a reward … a butterfly animation. Words of encouragement are provided and the page ends with the comment, “A red butterfly on a red flower” to further reinforce the color labels.
Please note, it is important to trigger the animations at the level of the stars.
This resource can be displayed on the ‘big screen’ (interactive whiteboard, TapIT, large screen TV using Apple TV) or the small screen (computer monitor, iPad/Android tablet using the Microsoft PowerPoint App).
The interactive whiteboard format works especially well when using a remote switch format. Please visit the Animated Step-by-Steps® blog for a chart outlining a multitude of ways to achieve remote access. http://bit.ly/RemoteSwitchAccess
As illustrated the materials needed to construct a butterfly match flip book are also included with this ASbyS resource.
