You can use the pictures in this color recognition resource to create a busy bag or box that your students can use independently or for one-on-one time for sped.
Print pages 4-6 on card stock and/or laminate for durability. I highly recommend laminating when you want to use the activity more than once because children often damage the paper even without intention.
Cut apart the pictures and place them in a zip-top bag for storage. You can also include a plain sheet of paper in each color: red, yellow and blue, for sorting mats but it is not required.
Lay all the cards face-down on the floor or table.
Have the child flip one card at a time and sort with the matching color. If you include sorting mats (colored paper), the child can lay the card on the mat. If you do not include sorting mats the child can simply group matching cards.
This is also an excellent opportunity for building speech skills. You can talk about the colors, the names of the different objects, and you can count the cards. An excellent tool for speech therapy.
Most importantly, have fun! Learning activities such as these should not be based on required outcome, but rather on the process itself.
