Now that your students have learned the basic color schemes / harmonies that work well together, they are ready to tackle color combinations that they can apply to real-life settings to create the most pleasing effects and ambiance that they want to achieve.
This project will allow your students to work on five different types of rooms based on the information provided to accommodate the needs of their “client”. They can choose 5 out of the 10 interior design coloring pages included in this download that they can choose from to suit their taste for the rooms that they are to work on. (All images have been purchased by The FCS Shoppe.) My suggestion is to print out at least 20 copies of each template.
Students can use colored pencils, crayons, markers or any media to show how they would carry out their color harmonies.
Make sure that they plan their color scheme for each room before they begin this project. They can have an interplay of light and dark values (e.g. light moss green with deep cranberry colors; coral peach to deep blues, etc.)
Your students can create drawings on their coloring page templates of floor designs, wall art, home accessories or paintings, window treatments, etc. Have them use their notes or textbook to help them remember the various schemes/harmonies available.
Make sure that your students submit the complete packet which includes their answer pages for each scenario; five completed color scheme pages and the rubric for your grading convenience.
Have fun and get your students' creative juices flowing!
