This color theory worksheet set includes fill-in-the-blanks for the color wheel; primary, secondary and intermediate colors; color theory vocabulary; color schemes or harmonies and paint mixing. Students take notes, then apply what they have learned directly on the note pages by painting in the spaces provided. A page of interesting color trivia and a color vocabulary crossword has been included for the fun of it.
There is a detailed Teacher's Key that looks just like the worksheet so you can post it on the board for students to take notes from or you can photocopy it for students who were away. It also makes for a great sub-plan because all the information is there.
I use this color lesson before I begin a painting project, so I have them paint on the worksheet for color mixing and brush handling practice. Student's can easily complete this with crayons, felts, pastels, or pencil crayons. When my student's are painting, I only give them the primary colors so they are forced to learn how to mix colors. This lesson usually takes my students 2 hours to complete when they are painting it due to paint setup and clean up.
Soon I will have a color theory slideshow in my store that complements this lesson, so check back soon or follow me.
