Description

This activity was designed for a high school Special Education/Life Skills classroom. However, by nature of the content level it would also be a great resource for the elementary years. Beyond the science and art education, students will gain a range of other beneficial experiences:

Fine and Gross motor: cutting, pasting, placing, painting, kneading, water dropping

Art: Primary colours, secondary colours, colour mixing, hue, saturation, value, colour identification

Science: light, science of colour, predictions, observation, rainbows

Life Skills: careers (light scientist, artist, animator), how movies are made

This download includes 22 pages of handouts PLUS lesson instructions and resources that I used to run this unit in my classroom. It includes my Color Sorting Download and my Paint Mixing download that are also for sale on my store, plus many more resources.

Lessons and handouts for the following lessons:

- Primary Color Cut & Paste Color Sorting

- Secondary Color Cut & Paste Color Sorting

- Color Mixing Painting Activity (with early finisher option)

- Play Dough Mixing Experiment (with no bake recipe for homemade play dough)

- Coffee Filter Butterfly Color Mixing Art Project

- Color Changing Flower Experiment

- Walking Water Expirment

Note: modern, minimalist versions of the playdough, color mixing, and cut & paste sorting activities are included in our Learning about Color Resource Package. They are designed differently for a different audience, but you likely won't want to purchase both resources.
