Why Art Therapy?

Using an art therapy approach can assist individuals with communicating their emotions in a non-threatening way. The benefits of art therapy include non-verbal expression, self-regulation, creativity, social skills, increased processing of events, and awareness of emotions. Talking with individuals about their art can provide counselors and educators with an opening to assist with the processing of emotions. This resource was designed to help individuals process their emotions and responses to life events and challenges.
