Teaching simple and compound sentences? Engage students using these color by grammar activities to study simple and compound sentences. I use these for scaffolding practice before introducing complex sentences.
• TWO coloring sheets - one with flowers and one with abstract squares. Sections are numbered. Students will color the type of sentence according to the key.
• 20 sentences that are either simple or compound for EACH coloring activity (40 practice sentences total). Students will find the correct answer and match the color to the type of sentence. Sentences 1-10 have assigned colors, and sentences 11-20 have other assigned colors.
• A picture of a finished sheet.
I created this grammar coloring activity because many students need a review of simple and compound sentences before they move onto complex and compound-complex sentences. Understanding types of sentences requires lots of practice, and this provides students a fun take on grammar instruction.
This product is part of a larger bundle. For a discounted price, the Grammar Coloring Sheet Bundle has this and many more grammar by color activities.
