One of Two official Colorado state songs and another song I teach my 4th graders when they learn about Colorado history. This is a good song to teach verse and chorus after my students have touched on rondo form more in-depth.
There is a longer version of this song with three verses but I opted to teach the 2 verse song found on Rick Pickren's "The State Song, Volume 2" (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/the-state-songs-vol.-2/id353536928)
Each line of lyrics is animated to help new readers and ELL students learn the words more productively. When learning a multi-verse song, I normally spend part of a lesson teaching a new verse and then adding it to the verses they already know so they do not feel too overwhelmed with all the new information coming at them in one swoop.
The images in this PowerPoint show the growth cycle of a columbine, from the seeds to their blooming on the mountain. These images follow students studies in science and encourage them to use their funds of knowledge to make connections to their previous learning in other content areas.
I am always looking to improve my work for my own teaching and also for you! Please rate and review!
