A very hands-on lab experiment (activity) that will engage students in a variety of ways: tactile and visual alike. Students will be intrigued as their sticky, white glue and aqueous borax solution (that looks like water), will ‘magically’ transform into a squishy, spongy colorful mass. They will play with it for hours!
This lab experiment is perfect for science students of just about any age. I have used it as a laboratory-experiment assessment with middle school students, as well as high school students. It can be used in a high school chemistry class or a lower level physical science class. I used it recently with my 8th graders who loved the experiment. It can be easily modified to accommodate other grades.
