With the quadrilateral factory, students see that, for example, in order for a shape to be a square, it must first pass through the rectangle part of the factory. Thus, every square is a rectangle.
This visual aid opens up many doors to creative hands on activities. Have the students come up with the correct button/color combination to make a certain shape.
Give the students an incorrect combination and tell them it makes a particular shape; have them tell you why that combination is incorrect.
