This is a BINGO game designed to help learners with not just colors and shapes, but self-empowering language skills as well. The game and the cards used to call out what to mark are scaffolded for pre-readers through beginning readers. Just print, provide the markers, and let the kids learn to play BINGO themselves.
This product includes six (6) boards for up to six (6) players and three (3) versions of the cards used to call out what to mark, including one that has the color words with the color in the background for those students who cannot yet read but know their colors, one with the color words written in the color as a clue for emerging readers, and one with the color words written in black font for the beginning readers.
I used this in my games and puzzles center and would often use it as a completely student-led activity when I needed to work with other students/groups. It took me on average two lessons of modeling being the leader, pulling a card from a bag, and calling out what to mark before the students (in appropriately formed groups) could do this activity independently. It was a useful resource to ensure kids at multiple levels of learning colors and reading could all be appropriately challenged. It is also useful as an assessment tool or to provide parents to reinforce learning at home. Finally, consider adding this to your monthly newsletter or distributing (electronic or hardcopy) to parents during a parent-teacher conference.
I hope you and your students have fun playing this color BINGO game!
