The Question of the Day is a great routine to establish in your classroom! Some of the benefits include:
• Your kiddos get a daily opportunity to make a choice and express their opinions.
• The questions are great conversation starters and help you create opportunities for oral language development.
• You have daily opportunities to discuss and reinforce math concepts like graphing and data collection, vocabulary (more, less, how many more, how many less, equal), and counting skills.
This file includes one question with 11 different colors to use as choices. Just laminate and cut out the word cards. Place them in a pocket chart or attach magnets to the backs of the cards and place them on a magnetic board. Give each kiddo his/her name card and let them makes their choice! Once all your kiddos have chosen, discuss the results. The best way to start the discussion is to simply ask your kiddos, “What do you notice?” You’ll be amazed at what they’re able to tell you once this becomes a part of your daily routine!
