### Description

Harness the motivation of collaborative competition coupled with the assurance of individual accountability! Every worksheet contains a different set of problems, yet all worksheets are needed to create the group mosaic.

Learning and fun share a one-to-one ratio in this engaging activity! Students must solve the ratio application word problems, then use their answers to decode their colour-by-number grid. The individual sheets combine to create the Lego character mosaics (12 worksheets each). Split your class up for a fun math colouring contest! You will seem like a magician as you piece the sheets together, and the mosaics will look fantastic in your classroom or math hallway! :)

Great for a variety of grades! Split the mosaics between multiple classes for extra competition and fun.

INCLUDED: (in both .docx and .pdf format)
◾ Four complete class sets of 12 worksheets each (every sheet is different!) that combine to create the Batman, Robin, Barbara Gordon, and Joker mosaics
◾ Complete answer keys for all mosaic sets, giving the answers for all worksheets (easy assessment!)
◾ Teaching Tips page for smooth implementation in your class
◾ Coloured mosaic guides with coordinates, for easy assembly
◾ Scrambled answers list at the bottom of each student's worksheet, allowing for self-assessment.

You can also get the characters in pairs for \$9.95 instead...

The student buy-in factor is HUGE with these worksheets; they all want to see the finished picture come together! Older students love colouring too!

Leave the characters a secret or show it for motivation… it’s your call.

Encourage students to check their answers by finding them in the randomized list on their worksheet before they colour each square. This will increase the accuracy of the final picture!

All my collaborative math mosaics use standard pencil-crayon colours found in the Crayola 24 pack. For best results, use the exact colour name match, colour darkly, and stick to one colouring medium (i.e. don't mix crayons with markers with pencil crayons...). Note that while every worksheet has a math problem for all the colours, not every colouring-grid section of the mosaic will require ALL the colours.

Feedback, Suggested Improvements, and frontline stories are always welcomed!

Use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems, e.g., by reasoning about tables of equivalent ratios, tape diagrams, double number line diagrams, or equations.
Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities. For example, “The ratio of wings to beaks in the bird house at the zoo was 2:1, because for every 2 wings there was 1 beak.” “For every vote candidate A received, candidate C received nearly three votes.”
