Students will read two perspectives regarding Columbus Day. One will argue that Columbus should have his own holiday the other will argue that he should not. Students will be assigned either the "yes" perspective or the "no" perspective and prepare for the debate by completing the debate preparation worksheet for each perspective. Students will then debate whether or not Columbus Day should remain a National Holiday. Included in this document are both the "yes" side and "no" side of the debate along with a grading rubric and instructions.
