I'd like to share this no-prep Columbus Day word building activity with you. Children simply cut out the name at the bottom of the page (Christopher Columbus), cut apart the letters, and arrange them to make as many different words as they can. The students will then record the words on the lines provided.
Examples of the words might be: school, bus, bush, top, rust, scoot, scoop, blush, room, home, comb, lots, list, mist, hiss, lumber, tumble, cloth, clothes, stop, spot, miss, cross, crisp, crumb, crumble, crib, crust, must, rumble, humble, stumble, bloom, rush, root
This activity is great for partner work, literacy centers, fast finishers, small groups, independent work, and more!
I hope your class enjoys it!
