The Columbus Day Graph activity is a hands-on way for the whole class to participate in learning how to graph and analyze data using a bar graph. Students enjoy answering the question, “Which ship would you choose?” Students choose the Nina, Pinta, or Santa Maria for their favorite ship. The students create a class graph by placing their colored ship card in the correct category on the graph on the wall. A graphing worksheet corresponds to the Columbus Day graph and is a powerful tool to help students learn how to read, record information, and evaluate the data on a bar graph. The Columbus Day graph is an exciting way for all students to participate and learn about graphing!
