This Columbus Day unit teaches about early explorers on the American continents. It is designed for 3rd grade informational reading, writing, and social studies (map skills and history).
The unit is presented in 2 different formats: a traditional lesson plan with day-by-day whole class instructions, and a layered curriculum* with more student control over their learning. Both formats hold students accountable for different levels of learning across subjects.
*Kathie Nunley's Layered Curriculum is a trademarked program. Learn more at www.help4teachers.com.
