A reproducible book including an opportunity for a written response (opinion writing), on the last page. Use this nine page book to teach your students about Christopher Columbus' famous voyage in 1492. The pages are designed in black and white so you can save your copy budget and your students can add their own color if desired.
See the text below to determine if it's an appropriate level for your students:
-Columbus and his crew sailed from Spain with three ships.
-He wanted to find a shorter route to Asia.
-They didn't see land for many days. The sailors were scared.
-Finally, they spotted land.
-Columbus called the people he met, Indians.
-Columbus didn't find Asia, but he found a new land. He discovered America.
-Columbus sailed back to Spain with gifts for the queen.
The last page of the book contains a written response prompt where students can state their opinion and use evidence from the text to justify their opinion.
How to prepare:
-Copy the pages (pages 2-10) on 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper
