Help students improve sentence structure through this hands-on writing activity. Students sort the statements into dependent or independent clauses. Then they pair the corresponding dependent and independent clauses to create complex sentences, using the included capital letters and punctuation, as needed. This works great as a mini lesson, writing review, or extension activity for fast finishers.
I have found it most helpful to laminate the sheets and cut them out beforehand. The directions, clauses, and capitals/punctuation have been doubled on the handouts to conserve paper.
