Product Description
Students learn to combine like terms and use the distributive property, as well as using different representations (table, graph, expression and verbal description) to represent one function. This is one of my go-to resources every year! This packet is centered around the idea that students are saving money to start a business. Each student has a plan that includes how much money they have up front, as well as how much they will be able to contribute every week. As students team up to become business partners, the ideas of why we combine like terms and use the distributive property become clear. Student plans are also compared using different representations. I find myself referring to this activity throughout the year, as it really sticks with my students!

This resource contains three sheets that I use in class: Savings Plans for Business Partners, Business Partners, and Fair Business Partners. After we complete these in sections in class, I have my students save them as notes so we can reference them all year. In addition, this resource also includes a worksheet on combining like terms and the distributive property, as well as a short exit ticket.

**This product is can also be purchased at a discounted price as a part of the Slope Intercept Bundle or Linear Equation and Inequality Bundle!**
