Relay Race Activity:
I created this "relay race" as an activity to review for the Intro ESL Assessment for Beginners. This could be used as a way to teach the material, review the material, or a formative assessment.
The activity is made up of seven stations which cover topics such as alphabet letters, vocabulary for introducing oneself, days of the week, classroom objects, classroom commands, months of the year, dates, numbers, and telling time. All of the materials needed to complete this activity are included (relay race worksheet for students to record answers, station activity sheets with directions, cut out numbers 1-100). The only thing you will need to provide are magnetic or cut out letters for the first station and stationary or picture clocks set to specific times for the last station. Answer key is included.
This can be used to prepare for Intro ESL Assessment or as a way to teach/review these topics.
Intro ESL Assessment:
This bilingual assessment could be used as a diagnostic, pre-assessment, or post-assessment depending on how you want to use it. It is most appropriate for newcomer ESL students as it covers very basic topics. It is also useful for students who have gaps in their education and need to relearn some basics. All directions are in both English and Spanish.
This assessment covers knowing the alphabet (both lowercase and uppercase letters), basic vocabulary for introducing oneself, the days of the week, the months of the year, dates (1st, 2nd, 3rd...), numbers 1-10, classroom objects, classroom commands, and telling time. Answer key is included.
