Included in this download are a class book cover page, as well as two pages for each student to complete (one for comfort, and one for joy.) For more experienced writers, I have differentiated the activity and included a page with blank lines for them to construct their own sentences.
My goal was to direct kids’ thoughts toward those moments, people, special events, or things that truly bring them comfort and joy during the winter holiday season. Whenever I present an activity to students that has a strong component of vocabulary awareness (in this case, the meaning of the words comfort and joy), I think it’s important to introduce any new words via a mini-lesson. This gives you a great opportunity to define, model, demonstrate word use, and even solicit examples from students.
Thank you, again, for taking a look at Comfort and Joy.
